A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Jere has worked as a family counselor for over thirty years. She was recruited by BCS to work with children and their families, but her expertise and experience also enables her to help women and couples who face a variety of challenges. This includes separation and loss issues, sexual abuse, marital problems, substance abuse, school problems, behavior problems, “out-of-control” and struggling teens, and the varied effects of abuse and neglect. Jere has been established as an expert witness in the 15th and 16th Judicial District Court systems and has extensive experience with state and private foster care, child protection, mental health, juvenile justice and school systems. She provides staff and parent training statewide on issues related to caring for foster, adopted and challenging children, and working with families in crisis. Jere’s counseling techniques can include the power of God’s Spirit and Word to change lives. Parents are included in sessions with young children and everyone is engaged in the counseling process. Individually and with a team, Jere leads several weekly groups that encourage spiritual growth and positive family functioning. She’s a wife, mother and leader in her local church.

I provide counseling for children, adolescents, and adults related to adoption issues. I also counsel adults with infertility or miscarriage issues who might be considering adoption. In the past, I worked for a national Christian adoption agency as a birthparent counselor and adoption specialist. In each of these roles I was able to see the adoption process from both sides, which has proven to be an invaluable resource when working with adopted individuals and their families. I work part-time at MTA-mostly on Mondays, Wednesdays and some Thursdays. I have some evening appointments available on M & W. My fee is $85/hour, however I always have a few spots in my case load for reduced fee clients. As a Christian counselor, my goal is to assist adopted children and families in getting to a place where they are able to celebrate God’s creative, purposeful, provision through adoption.

I see children at BRCCC and I have worked with some adults/adolescents/children in this area. Although I don't specialize in counseling in this area, I have personal experience that makes it dear to me as one of my own daughters chose the sacrifice of adoption about 5 years ago. Our family walked her through the process and the Lord did some things for her, through her, and for us that I keep very close to my heart.
